Day five of the Queensland State Swimming Championships was another exciting chapter for Moreton Bay Swimming Club (MBS), marked by outstanding efforts in both the heats and finals.

Morning Highlights: 


The morning heats showcased determination and progress, with 23 swims yielding an impressive 12 personal bests (PBs). The swim of the morning belonged to Elijah Pennefather, who delivered a stellar performance in the 400m Freestyle, achieving a 5.5-second PB and setting the tone for the day.

Finals Session – Fighting for Every Place:
Seven MBS swimmers advanced to the finals, delivering a mix of grit, resilience, and podium finishes:

  • Amani narrowly missed the podium in the 50m Backstroke, placing 4th in a tightly contested race. 
  • Hugh showcased his backstroke skills, finishing 5th in the same event.
  • Alannah swam a solid 200m Freestyle final, earning a 9th place finish.
  • Sienna Parkes pushed hard in the 400m Individual Medley (IM), placing 4th after a strong effort in one of the most demanding events.
  • Siena Gibson continued her incredible form, battling through the 400m Freestyle to secure the silver medal, adding another accolade to her impressive championships.
  • Rosy Ryan, MBS’s distance powerhouse, delivered a gutsy performance in the 1500m Freestyle, earning a well-deserved silver medal.
  • Sean closed out the finals with a solid swim in the 800m Freestyle, finishing in 10th place against a competitive field.

A Team Effort:
Day five highlighted the depth of talent and determination within the MBS squad. From PBs in the morning to courageous efforts in the finals, the club’s swimmers demonstrated their commitment to excellence.
