The Queensland State Swimming Championships kicked off in spectacular style at the Sleeman Aquatic Centre with an action-packed Relay Day, and Moreton Bay Swimming Club (MBS) delivered incredible performances, showcasing the talent and determination of our swimmers.

MBS entered an impressive 15 relay teams, all competing fiercely against Queensland’s best. Remarkably, 14 of these teams improved on their entry times—a testament to the hard work and preparation by our swimmers and coaches.

Highlights of the day included:

  • 14 Years 4x50m Freestyle Relay:
Our A-Team finished in a thrilling 4th place, with the B-Team achieving an admirable 9th position.
  • 16 Years and Under 4x50m Freestyle Relay:
A solid performance saw our team secure a 7th-place finish against strong competition.
  • 14 Years 4x50m Medley Relay:
This age group shone brightly, with the B-Team achieving 10th place and the A-Team earning a bronze medal. Congratulations to our medal-winning quartet of Elkie, Emily, Annika, and Verity!
  • Mixed 4x50m Freestyle Relay:
The day’s best result came as we combined our two fastest boys and girls to form a formidable mixed relay team. Congratulations to Angus, Harry, Verity, and Annika for a sensational race, finishing a close second to claim the silver medal!

Day one demonstrated the strength, depth, and team spirit of MBS. Our swimmers have set a high standard for the rest of the championships, and we can’t wait to see what they achieve next.

A huge thank you to all the swimmers, coaches, and supporters for making Relay Day a memorable success. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to make waves at the Queensland State Championships!
