Breakfasts will be provided to QGSSSA swimmers on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.
Breakfasts will be provided to Primary Swimmers on Friday mornings.
Please complete the survey below, outlining what events/activities you are able to provide assistance. We invite parents from the QGSSSA, Primary Swimming, CSSAQ and Water-Polo communities to volunteer.
We will only need 4 parents each morning.
Friday Night Meets
Several trial meets (called leadup meets) are held on Thursday or Friday evenings in weeks 1-4 of term 1. Results achieved at these events are used to assist with the selection of the MBC QGSSSA Swimming Team.
Girls will need to REGISTER to attend these meets, before the advertised closing date/time. Registration will include race entries and return transport preferences.
There will be 4 leadup meets in total (see aforementioned Event Calendar). Girls are encouraged to attend all leadup meets, as times from these meets will assist staff selecting the final QGSSSA Team.
Transport - All swimmers will travel on the Team bus to the venue. Return transport back to MBC will be offered, however parents may collect athletes from the competition if preferred.

How does the team get selected?
Team selection is based on times recorded during the QGSSSA season, attendance / attitude at training and performances at lead-up meets. A panel of coaches will make the final decision. The overall selection strategy is to create a Team, that will maximise the opportunity to score points for the College. Consequently, some swimmers may be swimming in events that are not their best nor their favourite.
However - the philosophy of Team will continue to guide coaches selection, thus swimmers who choose not to attend all Team sessions or leadup meets, may compromise their selection.
Coaches recognise that students are busy, with conflicting timetables sometimes unavoidable - parents are encouraged to raise any potential conflicts early, rather than wait until the announcement of the team.
Due to the large number of girls who are participating in the program this year and the fact there are only a finite number of individual events and relays, it is inevitable some swimmers will miss out on a chance to swim on the night. If girls have participated at training (with a positive attitude) and have attended lead-up meets, they will be named as part of the QGSSSA Swimming Squad as either an individual swimmer, relay swimmer or reserve.
It is possible that some swimmers will post very similar times throughout the season. The Director of Swimming may utilise the following options, to make the final decision.
1. Assess the students commitment to the four QGSSSA training sessions conducted each week.
2. Access additional results from training and Club competition.
2. Conduct a swim-off to decide a position on the team.
